China promised to improve human rights if it hosted the Olympics, but the brutal crackdown on the March and April protests in Tibet clearly broke this promise.

Now that the Games have ended, China analysts predict the unleashing of terrible retribution against Tibetans for destroying the Chinese government's carefully crafted myth that everything is harmonious within its borders.

It is more important than ever to ensure that the world does not turn its back on Tibet
